It’s easy to get caught up in the daily grind of running a business and lose sight of what’s truly important. At RSN Technologies, we always strive to keep our core values in mind: grace, honesty, hard work, and fun. We’d like to share why these four principles are important to us and how we implement them in our daily operations. Today we’ll explore the second of our four core values—honesty.

For RSN Technologies, embodying honesty means that we always treat others’ property and time with the utmost respect. It means we communicate with forthrightness and authenticity, and own our mistakes when they (rarely!) occur. Honesty is making sure that our interests are aligned with those of our clients. And honesty is working to help the entire IT industry by policing bad actors, applying an “open source” approach to developing the industry, and constantly striving to improve and harden cybersecurity overall—which benefits everybody involved.

Respect for others’ time and property

It is difficult to determine the exact prevalence of theft in the IT industry because not all cases of theft are reported or detected. However, theft and other types of fraud can occur in any industry, including IT.

Types of theft that may occur in the IT industry include:

  • Intellectual property theft: stealing ideas, inventions, or proprietary software code.
  • Data theft: stealing sensitive or confidential data, such as personal information, financial data, or trade secrets.
  • Hardware theft: stealing computer hardware or other IT equipment.
  • Time theft: wasting company time or using it for personal activities.

Theft in the IT industry can occur at any level, from individual employees to high-level executives. Employees may steal data or equipment for personal gain, while executives may engage in financial fraud or embezzlement.

RSN upholds a culture of honesty among our workforce, and in addition we mitigate the risk of theft with security measures like access controls, surveillance systems, and employee training programs. We are constantly vigilant and taking appropriate measures to prevent and detect theft.

Authentic communication and owning mistakes

At RSN we’ll always tell it like it is…and with grace! Communicating authentically and owning mistakes is crucial for building trust and maintaining strong relationships with our customers and clients.

RSN strives to be transparent about our mistakes and not try to cover them up. Once a mistake is recognized, we will take full responsibility for it, including accepting any consequences that may come with the mistake.

The first step in repairing a mistake is to offer a genuine, sincere apology to those affected. The next step is to devise and communicate a plan of action to rectify the situation, including steps to prevent the mistake from happening again. Finally,

we follow through on our plan of action fix the mistake and rebuild trust.

No conflicts of interest

IT contractors can face various conflicts of interest due to their contractual relationship with clients. At RSN Technologies we will never:
